Geographic tongue is generally associated with genetic, nutritional, and endocrine factors. It is a chronic, superficial desquamative glossitis occurring on the mucosal surface of the tongue and represents a common clinical condition. Psychological factors such as emotional fluctuations, insomnia, and fatigue may contribute. Endocrine-related causes are primarily linked to menstrual irregularities. Nutritional factors include indigestion and deficiency of vitamin B. Local factors, such as the eruption of primary or permanent teeth, may also play a role. Additionally, systemic conditions such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, allergic disorders, and infectious foci are among the comprehensive contributing factors.
