How to recover from respiratory alkalosis shock

Respiratory alkalosis-induced shock can be managed and recovered through pharmacological and physical treatments. Respiratory alkalosis is caused by excessive pulmonary ventilation due to various factors. Sedatives can be used to reduce the patient's hyperventilation. Alternatively, a paper bag or mask can be placed over the mouth and nose to increase the dead space of the airway and enhance carbon dioxide retention. In cases of tetany or carpopedal spasms, calcium supplements such as calcium gluconate or calcium chloride may be administered orally.
