How to treat pituitary tumors and cerebral infarction
Disease description:
Last month, my employer organized a health checkup, during which a pituitary tumor was detected. I'm a bit worried and would like to ask how pituitary tumors and cerebral infarction are treated?
Pituitary tumors can generally be treated through surgery, medication, radiation therapy, and other methods. Currently, the preferred treatment for prolactinomas is pharmacological therapy, which involves taking dopamine receptor agonists to reduce prolactin levels, shrink tumor size, and restore fertility. The conventional surgical approach is transsphenoidal resection of the pituitary tumor, a technique developed since the 1970s. Transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary prolactin-secreting tumors is currently the most commonly used method in clinical practice. Radioactive iodine therapy is rarely used, as it may lead to decreased pituitary function.
