What should be done if cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea occurs after pituitary tumor surgery?
Disease description:
I just had pituitary tumor surgery a few days ago, and I've already developed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) rhinorrhea. What should I do if CSF rhinorrhea occurs after pituitary tumor surgery?
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage following pituitary tumor surgery requires treatment through medication, surgical intervention, or other methods. When CSF rhinorrhea occurs after pituitary surgery, a transnasal-transsphenoidal procedure may be necessary. Postoperatively, bed rest is required; patients may be placed in a semi-sitting position to allow surrounding pituitary tissues to compress the skull base, thereby promoting faster closure of the leak site. In cases of elevated intracranial pressure, measures such as oral mannitol, lumbar puncture, or lumbar drainage can be used to reduce intracranial pressure.
