Dr. Guan Yanlei
Cranial nerve injuries can generally be treated through conservative management, medication, and other approaches. Conservative treatment involves the use of dehydration agents to relieve intracranial pressure and nerve edema. Mannitol intravenous infusion is commonly used, along with corticosteroid therapy. Dexamethasone intravenous infusion is typically administered once or twice daily for neuroprotection. Surgical treatment involves nerve decompression, both intracranial and extracranial, such as bone drilling, grinding away compressed bony fragments, removing surrounding neurovascular structures, excising the epineurium under a microscope, and performing decompression of neural canals and the facial nerve canal.
