Stroke patients should be sent to the hospital as quickly as possible. Stroke is a cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease with many risk factors that must be effectively managed, including hypertension, diabetes, and abnormal blood lipids. If these risk factors are well controlled, the likelihood of having another stroke will be significantly reduced; however, poor control will greatly increase the risk of future strokes.
