Are uterine cysts the same as ovarian cysts?
Disease description:
Recently, I've been hearing a lot about uterine cysts and ovarian cysts. I don't know much about these two conditions—Are uterine cysts and ovarian cysts the same thing?
Uterine cysts and ovarian cysts are different. Uterine cysts typically develop in the cervix, whereas ovarian cysts are located in the ovaries. Uterine cysts are usually caused by prolonged inflammatory stimulation, although they can also be physiological. Ovarian cysts result from endometriosis, changes in estrogen levels, or inflammation. Depending on the patient's condition and the location of the cyst, treatment may involve medication or surgical intervention.
