What is the occiput anterior position in fetal presentation?
Disease description:
I'm six months pregnant, and during a hospital checkup, the doctor said it's occiput straight anterior position. I'd like to ask, what kind of fetal position is occiput straight anterior position?
Occiput straight anterior position refers to a condition where the fetal sagittal suture aligns with the maternal pelvic diameter, which is a form of cephalopelvic disproportion. During labor, the fetal head will rotate toward the left or right occiput-anterior position along with the birth mechanism and typically does not interfere with delivery. However, if the fetus remains in the straight occiput-anterior position, it may increase the difficulty of childbirth. With assistance from an obstetrician or midwife, the fetal head can be manually rotated to a more favorable position. Pregnant women are advised to undergo regular prenatal check-ups so that, if necessary, appropriate interventions can be promptly implemented.
