Disease description:

I'm already 32 weeks pregnant. During my recent prenatal checkup, the doctor said the baby is in an abnormal position and the umbilical cord is wrapped around the neck once. What does it mean to have an abnormal fetal position at 32 weeks?

An abnormal fetal position at 32 weeks of gestation may be caused by an excessively long umbilical cord or excessive fetal movement. Corrective measures such as the knee-chest position or moxibustion can be used. Ideally, the fetus should be in a cephalic (head-down) position; if breech or transverse positions occur, correction should preferably be attempted between 30 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. By 32 weeks, the fetus is larger and the available space for movement within the uterus is relatively reduced, making correction more difficult. During attempts to correct fetal position, if symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, or dizziness occur, prompt medical attention is essential to avoid adverse effects on the fetus.
