Pituitary adenoma and pituitary adenoma are the same concept, with no difference between them. Pituitary adenoma, abbreviated as such, is a tumor of the endocrine system. It primarily originates from the anterior pituitary, although it is rare in patients involving the neurohypophysis. Pituitary adenomas are generally classified into two types: functional and non-functional. When the diameter of a pituitary adenoma is less than 1 cm, it is referred to as a pituitary microadenoma; tumors larger than 1 cm in diameter are called macroadenomas. The most common clinical manifestations include headache, visual disturbances, changes in visual fields, pituitary dysfunction, and endocrine-related symptoms. Treatment strategies vary depending on the type of pituitary adenoma.
