How to treat after having a stroke
Disease description:
An elderly family member felt unwell upon waking up in the morning, and the hospital diagnosed it as a stroke. I'd like to ask how stroke is treated after one occurs?
Stroke includes ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. The treatment of ischemic stroke mainly involves antithrombotic therapy, such as antiplatelet aggregation, lipid-lowering to stabilize plaques, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, improving cerebral metabolism, and controlling underlying conditions like hypertension and hyperglycemia. For hemorrhagic stroke, such as intracerebral hemorrhage, treatment primarily focuses on blood pressure control, bed rest, ensuring smooth bowel and bladder function, avoiding straining, protecting the gastric mucosa, and preventing stress-induced gastric ulcers. When necessary, interventions may include hemostasis, dehydration, reducing intracranial pressure, and surgical management.
