Do people with borderline personality disorder engage in promiscuous behavior?
Disease description:
A friend of mine has borderline personality disorder and often engages in promiscuous behavior. Does borderline personality disorder lead to promiscuity?
Individuals with borderline personality disorder may engage in promiscuous behavior. Patients often have a vague sense of self, confused identity, and even uncertainty regarding their career and gender. They frequently experience feelings of abandonment and are highly sensitive to being left alone. Additionally, they exhibit poor abilities in regulating emotions, managing anxiety, and coping with frustration, which often leads to intense anxiety. Once diagnosed, borderline personality disorder should be actively treated, primarily through psychotherapy with medication as an adjunct. Treatment approaches include analytical therapy, group therapy, family therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and social reintegration therapy.
