Does chlamydia infection always lead to blocked fallopian tubes?

Disease description:

Most people are only aware of infectious diseases such as AIDS, syphilis, and gonorrhea, but are unaware of chlamydia infection. However, chlamydia is a very common sexually transmitted infection. Does being infected with chlamydia necessarily lead to blocked fallopian tubes?

Chlamydia infection does not necessarily lead to fallopian tube obstruction. Chlamydia infection may cause vaginal and pelvic inflammatory disease, which in turn can result in adhesions between pelvic organs. When pelvic inflammation is mild, with minimal pelvic fluid accumulation and few adhesions, fallopian tube obstruction may not occur. However, when the inflammation is severe and there are extensive adhesions involving surrounding organs, the fallopian tubes may become twisted and obstructed. Therefore, it is overly simplistic to assume that chlamydia infection will either always or never cause fallopian tube obstruction.
