In the early stages of chlamydial conjunctivitis, patients typically experience noticeable eye itching and a foreign body sensation. In later stages, there is increased ocular discharge accompanied by significant pain, tearing, photophobia, and even slight vision decline. Trachoma is a chronic infectious conjunctivokeratitis; it is named for the rough, granular appearance of the conjunctival surface of the eyelid, which resembles sand. Chlamydia often adhere to ocular secretions from infected individuals, and any contact with these secretions can transmit trachoma and chlamydial conjunctivitis. Therefore, public education and awareness campaigns should be strengthened to disseminate knowledge about prevention and control of eye diseases and to promote good hygiene practices.
