Disease description:

In the past few days, I've been feeling discomfort in my lower abdomen and suspect it might be cervical polyps. A friend suggested that I go to the hospital for an examination to confirm the cause so that appropriate treatment can be given. Can cervical polyps be seen on a transvaginal ultrasound?

In general, cervical polyps are relatively small and may not be visible on transvaginal ultrasound. Routine examination requires a gynecological check-up, during which the doctor can visually identify cervical polyps. Transvaginal ultrasound is not a method used to examine cervical polyps. Therefore, when you suspect you have a cervical polyp, you should go to a hospital's gynecology department for a physical gynecological examination by a doctor. Transvaginal ultrasound is primarily used to evaluate the female pelvic organs—specifically the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries—for any abnormalities, and it can clearly show whether there are polyps on the cervix.
