Disease description:

I experienced contact bleeding during intercourse with my husband, so I'm very concerned about whether it could be cervical polyps. What kind of surgery is required for cervical polyps?

If the cervical polyp is small, colposcopy and cervical polypectomy can be performed. If the cervical polyp is larger, it can be removed via polypectomy or electrocautery. For relatively large polyps with a thick stalk, cauterization after excising the base may be performed to achieve hemostasis. In cases of multiple polyps, the cervical canal can be slightly dilated followed by complete curettage. After treatment, cervical polyps tend to recur relatively easily; therefore, patients require regular follow-up examinations.
