Dr. Guan Yanlei
In general, aphasia caused by cerebral edema still has the potential for recovery. However, the prognosis depends on the individual patient's condition and requires case-by-case analysis. In some cases, cerebral edema is not severe and only causes mild aphasia, such as slurred or difficult speech. In these situations, with timely and appropriate treatment, the aphasia can be significantly alleviated and improved. However, in other cases where cerebral edema is severe and there is extensive damage to the cerebral cortex, particularly irreversible damage to the language centers, the aphasia may not improve or resolve, resulting in long-term sequelae.
