In the early stage of Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis, patients may develop petechiae on the face, buttocks, and distal extremities. These spots typically do not fade when pressed. Some patients may also experience itching at the sites of petechiae. Additionally, pain in joints such as the knees, elbows, and ankles may occur in certain patients. As the disease progresses, some individuals may develop severe abdominal pain, and in serious cases, gastrointestinal bleeding, seizures, or even coma may occur.
