Dr. Zhao Xinju
Dietary management for patients with chronic renal failure should primarily follow the principle of eating light foods, with each meal consumed to about 80% fullness. Eating smaller meals more frequently aids digestion. It is recommended to consume two egg whites and a small bag of milk daily to ensure adequate protein nutrition. Patients should eat more vegetables, especially winter melon, pattypan squash, cucumber, eggplant, cauliflower, napa cabbage, and yuemaicai (garden lettuce). Mushroom-type foods such as mushrooms and wood ear fungus should be limited.
