Transmission routes of norovirus
Disease description:
Norovirus is contagious, so how is it transmitted?
There are generally two ways that norovirus spreads: person-to-person transmission, and transmission through contaminated food and water. Person-to-person spread typically occurs when individuals come into contact with an infected person, especially through exposure to the patient's vomit or feces. Infection can also result from consuming food or water contaminated with norovirus.
