Manifestations of abnormal immune function
Disease description:
Hello doctor, I've been catching colds frequently lately. I visited the neighborhood clinic, and the doctor there told me that my immune function is abnormal. I'm a bit skeptical and would like to know what signs indicate abnormal immune function?
Abnormal immune function can manifest clinically in various noticeable ways, such as frequent infections, increased allergic reactions, tumor development, and abnormal blood test results.
Frequent infections refer to the recurrent occurrence of multiple infections within a certain period, especially those that are difficult to treat. Increased allergic reactions indicate that the immune system fails to effectively suppress hypersensitivity responses, which may present as rashes, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and similar conditions. Tumor development can also result from immune dysfunction, as the immune system normally suppresses uncontrolled cell proliferation—tumors being the outcome of such unchecked cellular growth. Abnormal blood tests, such as elevated serum albumin, reduced splenic sinusoidal subendothelial space, or decreased platelet count, are also indicators used in diagnosing immune system abnormalities.
