Fever generally refers to an elevated body temperature. Whether adults with fever can receive intramuscular injections should be determined based on specific circumstances. If body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C and there are no significant discomforts, intramuscular injection is usually unnecessary. Instead, appropriate rest, increased fluid intake, or physical cooling methods such as warm water sponge baths or applying fever-reducing patches may be sufficient. However, if the fever—caused by a significant viral or bacterial infection stimulating the body's temperature regulation center—exceeds 38.5°C and oral antipyretics are ineffective, intramuscular injection may be considered under a doctor's recommendation.
