If a patient has multiple small gallbladder polyps, the condition is usually not serious; however, if the polyps are large, it may be more severe. When multiple gallbladder polyps are smaller than 1 cm, and there are no associated symptoms of cholecystitis or significant thickening of the gallbladder wall, the condition is generally considered mild, requiring only regular follow-up examinations and monitoring. However, if the patient has multiple gallbladder polyps larger than 1 cm, or if there is significant gallbladder inflammation—such as marked thickening of the gallbladder wall exceeding 3 mm—the condition is considered serious. Early surgical intervention is recommended in such cases, as this often indicates a potential for malignant transformation, and prompt surgery can help prevent severe complications later on.
