Disease description:

I've been feeling abdominal discomfort recently, so I went to the hospital for a checkup. The results showed a polypoid lesion of the gallbladder wall. Could you please explain what a polypoid lesion in the gallbladder means, and is it serious?

Papillary lesions in the gallbladder refer to space-occupying abnormalities occurring in the gallbladder region. The severity of the condition depends on the individual patient's circumstances: it is usually not serious if mild, but may be more severe if advanced. Most gallbladder papillary lesions are benign, such as gallbladder polyps or gallbladder adenomyomatosis. These benign conditions typically progress slowly, and if the lesion is small and the patient has no obvious symptoms, the condition is generally not serious. However, if the papillary lesion is caused by a malignant tumor, such as gallbladder cancer, the condition is usually severe. Malignant tumors tend to progress rapidly, with cancer cells prone to invade surrounding tissues and metastasize to distant sites, posing a significant threat to the patient's life and health.
