How to determine gum recession
In general, gingival recession can be identified by observing the color and shape of the gums. After gum recession occurs, the gums may become red, swollen, loose, and even bleed. Additionally, the gum line may become irregular, with noticeable areas of gum loss. Another way to assess this condition is by examining the gum line—the border where the gums meet the teeth. Normally, the gum line should fit snugly around the teeth. If the gum line appears to have receded or shifted downward, it may indicate gum recession. Symptoms such as loose teeth, exposed tooth necks, or teeth appearing longer than usual may also be signs of gum recession. If any of these symptoms are observed, it is recommended to consult a dentist promptly for professional treatment to prevent damage to dental health and oral aesthetics.
