After sun exposure, redness and itching of the skin require prompt and proper care. Immediately move to a shaded area to avoid further UV exposure. Apply cold compresses using a cool towel or ice pack to the affected area for 15–20 minutes at a time, which can effectively reduce swelling and itching. When cleansing the skin, use a gentle, non-irritating facial cleanser and avoid vigorous rubbing. Apply soothing, moisturizing lotions or gels—such as aloe vera gel—to help repair damaged skin.

If itching is severe, oral antihistamines such as loratadine may be taken to relieve allergic symptoms. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate and support metabolic function. During skin recovery, maintain a light diet and avoid spicy, greasy, or irritating foods. Take protective measures when going outdoors to prevent further sunburn.

If symptoms worsen or are accompanied by other discomforts, seek medical attention promptly.
