Can you rinse your mouth after tooth extraction?
It is generally not recommended to rinse your mouth immediately after tooth extraction, as rinsing may allow bacteria in the mouth to enter the wound, increasing the risk of infection. Additionally, rinsing might irritate the surgical site, leading to increased bleeding and more severe pain. After a certain period following the extraction, once the wound has healed sufficiently, gentle rinsing with warm salt water or an alcohol-containing mouthwash may be appropriate to help reduce oral inflammation and maintain oral hygiene. Please follow your dentist's advice regarding the appropriate time to begin rinsing.
