What causes corneal injury?

Additionally, poor habits such as overuse of eye drops, prolonged wearing of contact lenses, and eye strain may also damage the cornea. 4. Symptoms of corneal injury include redness and pain in the eye, excessive tearing, decreased vision or blindness, photophobia, and a foreign body sensation.
