After cupping therapy, it is generally recommended to wait at least six hours before taking a shower. During cupping, the skin becomes congested and bruised due to the negative pressure created by the cups, and pores naturally dilate to help expel dampness and toxins from the body. If you bathe immediately afterward—especially with hot water—the pores may open further, increasing the risk of skin infection. Additionally, the temperature of the water may interfere with the therapeutic effects of cupping. It is advisable to rest adequately after cupping, avoid strenuous exercise and exposure to cold water, and keep the body warm. After about six hours, once the skin has stabilized and the pores have partially closed, you may take a shower. However, the water temperature should not be too high, and you should avoid scrubbing the cupped areas vigorously, in order to maintain skin health and prolong the benefits of the treatment. Furthermore, if there is any skin breakage or unusual discomfort, you should consult a healthcare professional for advice.
