Meniscus tear is a common knee joint injury with diverse and complex causes. 1. Traumatic injury is a direct cause of meniscus tears, especially when the knee joint experiences strong twisting or rotational forces, such as when athletes suddenly change direction or twist their knees during sports activities. 2. Long-term repetitive knee movements, such as prolonged running or jumping, may also lead to meniscus damage due to overuse. 3. Aging reduces the elasticity of the meniscus over time, increasing the risk of injury. Knee osteoarthritis can also weaken the meniscus, making it more susceptible to damage. 4. Other factors, such as muscle strength imbalances and abnormal knee alignment, may also contribute to meniscus injuries. To prevent meniscus tears, it is important to avoid traumatic injuries during intense physical activity, appropriately manage exercise intensity and techniques, and maintain overall knee joint health.
