Disease description:

I've been working at construction sites year-round. Recently, I developed many small blisters on my feet. My family thinks it might be eczema, and they're extremely itchy. I'd like to know what could be causing these itchy small blisters on the feet.

Small blisters on the feet accompanied by itching are usually caused by various factors. Common causes include poorly fitting shoes, which lead to prolonged friction against the skin; eczema, which may be triggered by dark, damp environments and results in localized itching and papules; allergic dermatitis, which occurs after exposure to allergens and causes redness, swelling, and itching; dyshidrotic eczema (sweat blistering), commonly seen in hot, humid conditions due to excessive foot sweating; and athlete's foot (tinea pedis), caused by fungal infection of the skin on the feet. First, it is important to identify the underlying cause and then apply appropriate treatment accordingly. This may include switching to comfortable, loose-fitting shoes to avoid friction; using calamine lotion or similar treatments to relieve eczema symptoms; taking antihistamines or avoiding contact with allergens for allergic skin conditions; keeping the feet clean and dry and avoiding prolonged exposure to hot, sweaty environments. For athlete's foot, antifungal medications should be used under a doctor’s guidance. Additionally, maintaining good personal hygiene and avoiding sharing towels or other personal items with family members can help prevent cross-infection.
