Dr. Ren Yi

The life expectancy of patients with bronchiectasis varies from person to person and cannot be precisely determined. If the condition is mild and the patient actively cooperates with treatment, controls infections, improves respiratory function, and maintains good daily self-care—such as avoiding fatigue, preventing respiratory infections, and quitting smoking—their survival time may be close to that of healthy individuals, allowing for long-term survival and a good quality of life. However, if the disease is severe, with recurrent infections, hemoptysis, or complications such as respiratory failure and cor pulmonale, and if treatment is ineffective, life expectancy may be significantly affected.

If you suspect you have bronchiectasis, you should seek medical attention promptly.
