Surgical treatment is generally not recommended for adult amblyopia, as amblyopia primarily results from abnormal visual development during the critical period of vision development. By adulthood, the visual system has already matured, making surgical intervention less effective. Although procedures such as laser refractive surgery and intraocular lens implantation are available, these methods mainly correct refractive errors rather than directly treating amblyopia, and thus show limited effectiveness for amblyopia itself. Therefore, for adult amblyopia, non-surgical approaches such as wearing corrective glasses, occlusion therapy, and medication are preferred to improve vision. Additionally, maintaining good eye hygiene and healthy visual habits in daily life is recommended to slow the progression of amblyopia.
