Vitreous opacities are mainly caused by factors such as aging, ocular infections, and intraocular hemorrhage. With increasing age, the vitreous gradually liquefies, leading to posterior vitreous detachment, which may progress to vitreous opacities. In addition, ocular infections such as retinal and uveitic inflammation, as well as intraocular bleeding due to conditions like diabetic retinopathy and hypertensive retinopathy, can also cause vitreous opacities. Treatment of vitreous opacities should be targeted according to the specific underlying cause.
