Does uterine polyp require surgery?
Our organization arranged the annual health checkup for employees. My ultrasound results showed that I have uterine polyps, but they are not very large. The doctor suggested monitoring them for now. May I ask, do uterine polyps require surgery?
Whether uterine polyps require surgical intervention depends on the specific characteristics of the polyps, the patient's symptoms, and the doctor's recommendation. If the uterine polyps are small in diameter and few in number, surgery may not be necessary, and conservative management—such as regular monitoring and follow-up examinations—may be sufficient. However, if the polyps are large or numerous, surgical treatment might be considered to prevent further growth or potential malignant transformation.
If a patient has no obvious symptoms and the polyps are small, conservative management with regular observation and follow-up may be appropriate. However, if the patient experiences irregular vaginal bleeding, increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstruation, or other symptoms related to the polyps, surgical treatment may be recommended to alleviate these symptoms.
If you feel any physical discomfort, you should seek medical attention promptly.
