Symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones
I have intrahepatic bile duct stones, but I'm not sure what symptoms they cause. What are the symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones?
The symptoms of intrahepatic bile duct stones are diverse and mainly include:
1. Abdominal pain: Most patients experience upper abdominal pain, which is usually persistent or paroxysmal colicky pain that may radiate to the right shoulder or back. Pain can be triggered by consuming fatty foods or changing body position.
2. Chills and fever: Some patients may develop chills and high fever, with body temperature reaching 39°C–40°C. This is a typical manifestation of biliary tract inflammation or obstruction.
3. Jaundice: When stones obstruct the bile ducts, jaundice may occur, characterized by yellow discoloration of the skin and sclera. In severe cases, urine, sputum, tears, and sweat may also become yellowish.
4. Other symptoms: Additional symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weight loss. During acute episodes or when stones are large, serious complications such as biliary bleeding, acute suppurative cholangitis, or even septic shock may arise.
