Are the ingredients of Kaisailu and enema agents the same?
Disease description:
I've been having severe constipation recently, and a friend recommended using Kaisailu. Is the ingredient in Kaisailu the same as that in enema solutions?
The ingredients in laxative enemas (Kaisailu) and colonic irrigation solutions are not exactly the same, as each has different compositions and uses.
1. Ingredients of laxative enemas (Kaisailu): These primarily include glycerin, sorbitol (or mannitol), and magnesium sulfate. Glycerin stimulates the colon wall to accelerate intestinal movement and trigger a defecation reflex. Sorbitol and mannitol act as hypertonic agents, increasing water content within the intestines and softening stools. Magnesium sulfate exerts a similar osmotic effect, helping to increase intestinal fluid and promote bowel movements.
2. Ingredients of colonic irrigation solutions: Depending on their intended use, colonic irrigation solutions vary in composition. Common types include normal saline, soapy water solution, and sodium bicarbonate solution, which are mainly used to remove fecal matter and reduce intestinal pressure. There are also medicated enemas and nutritional enemas, designed for local treatment or systemic absorption, and for providing nutritional support, respectively.
