Symptoms of retinal detachment
Disease description:
My roommate suddenly experienced eye discomfort yesterday, and after going to the hospital, he was diagnosed with retinal detachment. I'd like to ask, what is generally the best way to treat this condition?
Symptoms of retinal detachment mainly include the following:
1. Floaters:表现为 black spots or shadows floating in the field of vision, with various shapes such as star-like, dot-like, or thread-like forms. They may appear in both eyes simultaneously and do not improve spontaneously.
2. Photopsia (flashing lights): Patients experience sensations resembling lightning flashes or flickering lights in their visual field. These typically first appear at the periphery of vision, are mobile, and gradually move toward the center.
3. Shadow obstruction: A persistent dark shadow appears in the visual field and does not disappear over time. The shadow may progressively enlarge and impair vision. Initially appearing at the edges of the visual field, it may occasionally move inward, leading to visual field restriction and defects.
4. Vision loss: Retinal detachment can lead to progressive decline in vision, even resulting in complete vision loss. This occurs because the retina is the most important light-sensitive tissue in the eye; when it detaches, light signals cannot be properly transmitted to the brain.
