What could be the reason if a child frequently complains of stomach pain?
Disease description:
My younger brother always complains of stomach pain. I'm not sure if it's because he ate something wrong or if he's faking it. Could you please tell me what might cause a child to frequently complain of stomachaches?
Children frequently complaining of abdominal pain may have various underlying causes. 1. Intestinal spasms, typically caused by consuming food that is too cold or too hot, leading to excessive contraction of the intestinal wall muscles. This manifests as paroxysmal acute abdominal pain, with each episode lasting about 3–5 minutes. 2. Intussusception may also cause abdominal pain, presenting symptoms such as abdominal pain, palpable abdominal mass, and jelly-like stools. 3. Appendicitis is another common cause, resulting from obstruction of the appendix lumen followed by bacterial infection and inflammation. Symptoms include persistent abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. 4. Other possible causes include acute gastroenteritis, growing pains, dietary factors, excessive physical activity, and indigestion.
