Hematuria (occult blood in urine) does not necessarily indicate bladder cancer, but bladder cancer may cause hematuria. Hematuria refers to the presence of red blood cells in the urine and can be caused by various factors, including but not limited to: 1. Urinary tract infections: such as acute cystitis or urethritis, often accompanied by symptoms like frequent urination, urgency, and dysuria. 2. Urinary stones: such as bladder stones or ureteral stones; these can damage the urothelial mucosa, leading to hematuria. 3. Internal medical conditions: such as various acute or chronic glomerulonephritis or kidney diseases, which result in red blood cells leaking into the urine. 4. Bladder cancer: as one of the most common malignant tumors in the urinary system, early symptoms of bladder cancer may present as painless, intermittent hematuria.
