I have common warts, which are neither painful nor itchy, so I haven't paid much attention to them. I'd like to ask, can common warts resolve on their own without treatment?

Common warts, if left untreated, generally do not resolve spontaneously. This condition is primarily caused by infection of the skin and mucous membranes with the human papillomavirus (HPV), resulting in a benign proliferative lesion that is contagious. The main symptoms include flat, firm papules on the skin surface, with rough texture and obvious keratosis. Without timely treatment, common warts may worsen, increase in number, or grow larger, making treatment more difficult. Additionally, due to their contagious nature, patients may transmit the virus to others. More seriously, although the risk is low, long-term untreated warts may deteriorate and potentially undergo malignant transformation. It is recommended that patients seek medical attention promptly upon detecting common warts and receive appropriate treatment—such as medication, physical therapies, or surgery—under medical supervision. Maintaining good lifestyle habits and personal hygiene can help reduce the risk of developing and spreading common warts.
