What are the symptoms of pharyngitis and how is it treated?
Disease description:
Recently, my throat has been feeling sore and very dry. After visiting the hospital, the doctor diagnosed me with pharyngitis. I would like to know what symptoms pharyngitis causes and how it should be treated.

The symptoms of pharyngitis primarily include sore throat, dryness of the throat, a sensation of a foreign body, and possible presence of vesicles or ulcers, which are similar to those of acute tonsillitis. Specifically, clinical manifestations of pharyngitis may also include high fever, restlessness, decreased appetite, drooling, and general malaise. In children, symptoms such as vomiting and convulsions may additionally occur.
Treatment methods for pharyngitis mainly include the following:
1. General management: Patients should get adequate rest, drink plenty of fluids, maintain good oral hygiene, and consume light, easily digestible foods.
2. Medication: Depending on the cause, bacterial infections can be treated with penicillin antibiotics, while viral infections may be managed with antiviral agents such as acyclovir or ribavirin. Additionally, mouth rinses such as compound borax solution or compound chlorhexidine gargle can be used.
3. Physical therapy: Techniques such as microwave or laser therapy may help improve local blood circulation and reduce swelling.
