How is nail fungus transmitted to others?

Onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) primarily spreads to others in the following ways: 1. Direct contact transmission: When a healthy person comes into direct contact with someone who has onychomycosis, especially through contact with the infected areas, fungi may be directly transmitted. For example, sharing personal items such as towels or nail clippers, or walking barefoot in public places like swimming pools and bathrooms, can easily lead to direct transmission. 2. Indirect contact transmission: Fungi can also spread indirectly via air, water, or animals. For instance, using inadequately disinfected tools in barber shops or nail salons, or sharing bed sheets, blankets, and other household items with an infected individual, may result in indirect transmission. To prevent the spread of onychomycosis, it is recommended to maintain good personal hygiene, avoid sharing personal items with infected individuals, and minimize walking barefoot in public areas.
