Fungal nail infections can usually be cured. Treatment methods mainly include medication, physical therapy, and surgical nail removal. Regarding drug treatment, patients may take oral antifungal medications such as itraconazole capsules or fluconazole tablets; these drugs work by inhibiting the synthesis of fungal cell membranes, thereby exerting antibacterial and fungicidal effects. Topical treatments can also be used, such as soaking feet in compound salicylic acid solution or econazole nitrate solution, followed by application of antifungal creams. Physical therapies include photodynamic therapy, which uses red light irradiation to kill pathogenic microorganisms. For patients with severe symptoms such as ulceration or pus discharge, surgical nail removal may be considered.
