What does it mean to have excessive liver fire?
Disease description:
I went to see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor today, and the doctor said I have excessive liver fire. What does excessive liver fire mean?
Liver fire excess is usually caused by multiple factors, primarily including the following:
1. Emotional factors: Prolonged anxiety, depression, or sudden outbursts of anger can easily lead to stagnation or excessive rising of liver qi, thereby forming liver fire.
2. Dietary factors: A preference for greasy and spicy foods, as well as excessive alcohol consumption, tends to generate "dampness" and "heat" in the body. Combined with the general lack of physical activity among modern individuals, impaired transformation and excretion functions further contribute to excessive liver fire.
3. Heat pathogens from internal organs: Heat pathogens affecting other organs—such as wind-heat common cold—may transmit to the liver or gallbladder channels, resulting in excessive liver fire.
4. Disease-related factors: Chronic liver or gallbladder diseases, hypertension, or other pathological conditions may easily cause deficiency of liver yin, leading to relative excess of yang qi in the liver channel and thus resulting in excessive liver fire.
