How long does it take to recover normally after surgery for phimosis?
Disease description:
I'm planning to schedule a circumcision surgery at the hospital soon, but I'm not sure how much rest is needed before returning to work. How long does it take to recover after surgery for phimosis?
The recovery time after surgery for long foreskin varies from person to person, but generally can be divided into the following stages:
1. Initial recovery: About 3 days after surgery, once the gauze dressing the wound is removed and there are no signs of infection, patients may resume light daily activities, but should avoid strenuous exercise and sexual activity.
2. Basic recovery: Around one week after surgery, the circumcision wound has mostly healed, and patients can generally return to normal work.
3. Full recovery: Approximately two weeks after surgery, local pain and swelling at the incision site will improve, and patients can essentially resume normal life. However, for some individuals—especially those with weaker constitutions or underlying medical conditions—complete recovery may take 1 to 3 months.
