What causes chapped lips?
Disease description:
I drink plenty of water regularly, so why are my lips still very dry? What could be the reason for persistently dry lips?

There may be several reasons why lips are always dry.
1. A common cause is the bad habit of frequently licking the lips. As saliva evaporates, it removes moisture from the lips, leading to dryness.
2. Not regularly using lip balm, especially in dry environments, can leave lips unprotected and prone to dryness.
3. Dehydration or insufficient fluid intake is another common cause, particularly during summer or after intense physical activity, when timely hydration is essential.
4. Deficiencies in vitamins—especially vitamins A, B-complex, and C—can also contribute to dry lips. Environmental factors such as strong wind, sand, or extreme temperatures (either very low or very high) may likewise affect lip moisture.
5. Certain internal medical conditions, allergic reactions, or taking specific medications may also result in dry lips.
Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits, drinking adequate water, eating a balanced diet, avoiding lip-licking, and choosing a suitable lip balm are all important for preventing dry lips.
