Disease description:

Recently, I've noticed a white membrane on my lips upon waking up in the morning, and red rashes appearing on my body from time to time. I looked it up online and found that it might be vasculitis. Are these symptoms of vasculitis? What are the symptoms of vasculitis?

Vasculitis is an inflammatory disease that affects blood vessel walls and surrounding tissues, with diverse clinical manifestations.

Skin manifestations are common in vasculitis, including but not limited to erythema, nodules, purpura, urticaria, bullae, papules, necrosis, and ulcers. These skin lesions typically occur below the knees, especially on the lower parts of the legs and the dorsum of the feet.

When large vessels are involved, symptoms such as weight loss, fatigue, arthralgia, and fever may appear. Involvement of medium-sized vessels, as seen in conditions like polyarteritis nodosa, may cause headaches, blurred vision, tinnitus, or hearing loss. Pulmonary involvement can lead to diffuse, interstitial, or nodular lesions, resulting in symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, and dyspnea.

Ischemic or congestive symptoms, particularly common in young people, may manifest as pain, numbness, or other sensory abnormalities. Additional symptoms include systemic manifestations such as fever, malaise, joint pain, and myalgia.

The symptoms of vasculitis are not specific, and many other diseases may present similarly. Therefore, if the above symptoms occur, timely medical consultation is necessary to determine the underlying cause through professional examinations and to implement targeted treatment.
