How to reduce eye swelling
Disease description:
After waking up in the morning, I noticed swelling around my eyes, which affects my normal appearance. How can I reduce this swelling?
There are several methods to reduce eye swelling, and the appropriate approach can be selected according to the specific cause:
1. Physical methods:
- Spoon massage: Place a spoon in the refrigerator for several minutes, then gently press the convex side against the skin around the eye. Repeat the massage several times, each session lasting about 1 minute.
- Cold milk compress: Chill milk in the refrigerator, dip a cotton swab into the cold milk, and apply it to the swollen area for about 1 minute.
- Potato slice compress: Cut a potato into thin slices and place them over the swollen area for 1 to 10 minutes.
- Tea bag compress: Place used tea bags in the refrigerator to chill for 15 minutes, then apply them to the swollen area for 1 to 10 minutes.
2. Medication methods:
- Inflammatory eye conditions: Use medications such as ciprofloxacin eye drops or tobramycin eye drops as directed by a physician to relieve inflammation.
- Glaucoma: Use medications such as pilocarpine or timolol as directed by a physician to lower intraocular pressure.
Please note that if symptoms of eye swelling persist or worsen, prompt medical attention should be sought.
