Symptoms of suppurative parotitis
Disease description:
A friend has developed a case of suppurative mumps, and I don't know much about this disease. What are the symptoms of suppurative mumps?
The symptoms of suppurative parotitis are primarily characterized by significant abnormalities in the parotid region, which are clear and easily recognizable.
1. The parotid gland becomes noticeably swollen and painful; this pain can be severe enough to impair mouth opening and chewing.
2. Patients often develop fever, with body temperature rising above 39°C, accompanied by chills and a sensation of coldness.
3. Due to the infection, patients may also experience systemic discomfort, such as loss of appetite and fatigue. Notably, if the infection is not effectively controlled, an abscess may form and eventually rupture, discharging pus. More seriously, if inflammation is not promptly managed, the infection can spread systemically, leading to sepsis and even causing shock and multi-organ failure.
Once symptoms of suppurative parotitis appear, prompt medical attention should be sought for professional treatment.
